Trevor is an engaging educator who works to create an environment where children have free will, feel safe and supported, and are comfortable to get something wrong without shame or negativity. In that environment he believes learning comes from building the habit of consistently giving an effort and staying the course. Trevor holds a BS in Movement Science from the University of Michigan and an MS in Industrial Engineering from the University at Buffalo. After working as an industrial engineer for a couple years he found his calling for education and became a chess coach. He's taught over 1,000 kids, first in the Pacific Northwest, and now in Southern Vermont. He lives in Bennington, VT, with his two dogs. When he isn't teaching he spends his time cycling, cross country skiing, reading, backpacking, fly fishing, and playing chess.
