Kira Mait
Kira Mait joined our community in September 2024. Her approach to learning prioritizes individual support, flexibility, playfulness, and creativity in the classroom. Kira’s dedication to education is evident in her extensive background. She holds a BA in Educational Studies from Washington University in St. Louis and a Masters Degree in Elementary Education from Pace University. With years of teaching experience, Kira engages and empowers children to reach their full potential. She has taught in public and private schools throughout New York City, Vermont, and San Francisco. Additionally, Kira ran a private ELA tutoring practice called Play With Words for many years.
Prior to teaching at the Southshire Community School, Kira held the position as the Marketing Communications Specialist at the Manchester Community Library. She served as theLibrary Ambassador, creating and promoting the Library's programs and resources while cultivating deep relationships with local businesses and public and private schools. Currently, Kira, her husband Josh, and their three daughters live in Sunderland, VT. During her free time, Kira loves to travel and play card games with her family, snowshoeing, reading, tennis, and volunteering at The Community Food Cupboard.
