Older Group Teacher

Patrick Jehle

Patrick recognizes and honors the creativity and passions of individual students. He believes in allowing students to pursue topics and subjects they are enthusiastic about and encouraging them to engage in hands-on learning through projects, experiments, and collaboration with peers. He also believes that students can absorb more complex and sophisticated information than what is typically offered in a traditional classroom, and he uses the small classroom setting at Southshire to personalize learning plans and work one-on-one with each student to maximize their learning potential. His chief concerns for the older students at Southshire are instilling in them the idea of self-confidence and self-motivated learning, exposing them to stimulating ideas from a variety of disciplines, and preparing them for their transition to high school.

Patrick holds BA and MA degrees in Great Books and British Literature from the University of Notre Dame, as well as an MA in Literatures in English from Rutgers University. He has over fifteen years of experience teaching at the middle school, high school, and college levels. A native of Brooklyn, New York, Patrick lives in Bennington with his wife and two children. Patrick loves to write, cook, paint, watch films, learn new languages, visit big cities, and read classic literature of all kinds.
